Earlier this month, the Historic Preservation Commission for the City of Hartford adopted guidelines for solar panels located in historic districts. The use of solar panels can help to curb carbon emissions by reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, which in turn helps mitigate the impacts of climate change. Solar also can save families a lot of money! If you live in a historic district and want to go solar, the first step is to determine if your panels will be visible from the street or will otherwise be subject to the historic district regulations. If so, the “Guidelines for Solar on Historic Properties” will be very useful to your solar installer. For more information, view the complete guidelines here or contact the Commission directly.
